Hello eveyone,
This is part of a book release sheet for one of our new books, Famous Figures of the American Revolution...
The patriots are fighting for liberty and the birth of a new nation. Valiant George Washington leads the Continental Army against the Redcoats. Patrick Henry uses fiery words to persuade the Virginia House of Burgesses to go to war with the British. Benjamin Franklin eloquently represents the colonies across the Atlantic in their quest for independence. Molly Pitcher supplies drinking water to the soldiers at the Battle of Monmouth and assists her husband at the cannon. Paul Revere delivers messages for the militia while thriving in his trade as a silversmith.
Now children ages 6 to 12 can join the quest for liberty and freedom and make movable action figures of these heroes and heroines of the American Revolution. Famous Figures of the American Revolution: Movable Paper Figures to Cut, Color, and Assemble allows children to perform their own historical re-enactments or create new stories using ten of the most important figures of the American Revolution—including Benjamin Franklin, Betsy Ross, Daniel Boone, George Washington, John Adams, Molly Pitcher, Patrick Henry, Paul Revere, a soldier of the Continental Army, and Thomas Jefferson.
Reviewed and edited for costume accuracy by Dona M. McDermott, archivist at the Valley Forge National Historical Park, this creative learning tool features detailed illustrations of ten historic figures based on authentic paintings and drawings. The characters come in easy-to-assemble colored and colorable versions printed on heavy cardstock for hours of creative play. A detailed biography section provides key facts about the lives of each person. To add to the learning fun, a reading list is included for parent/teacher read-alouds and independent readers to learn more about the lives of these noble patriots.
Kudos to you Neil-I wish I had the determination that you have. Good luck!
I’m strange!
I used to think I was a really strange person. While everyone else was out socializing and going to concerts, movies, and having meals out, I would stay home and sit in my room and write stories. I thought I was even odder when I got older and went to college. While I did my fair share of partying, I never got into that whole social clique thing. While my friends would be outside playing football or Frisbee tag, I’d be in my dorm room cranking out poetry (that’s what I was into at the time) and short stories. Always dreaming that fame and fortune would come my way and make this obsession of mine seem tangible. I even got a reputation at school of a guy who wouldn’t answer his dorm room door even if I was there because I’d be writing and didn’t want to be disturbed. My friends never teased me though, for they saw my ambition and determination to make it as an author. Fast-forward almost twenty years of sitting alone in apartment after apartment, and then finally a home, constantly writing, ignoring request to meet with friends, go spend a day in the city, or even gather some buddies for a beer at a bar; spending 90% of my time alone and writing. Then Facebook came along and the era of the internet. Suddenly, I’m back in touch with all those people who were left wondering whatever happened to me. Suddenly, the whole world opened up to me and my books, and provided me a way to sell my work to a potential audience of billions. Suddenly, all my friends see the result of all those years of isolation and sacrifice. Now they read my books. Now they send me text, Facebook, and email messages saying how much they like my stuff. Now they read my blog and follow my career. Now, they don’t think I’m so strange anymore. And that has made it all worth it.
Okay, today…
Final sales for the promotion was 1,645, bringing the total number to of people who have read my books in the last year to about 6,500. That’s pretty amazing since this is really just the beginning of the possibilities of the future. And like I noted in previous posts, my big promotions in February and March should give me an estimated audience of about 10,000,000 potential readers. Very cool. Also, as promised, I’ve included the query letter I was going to use for SILENT INVASION until I decided not to go the NY route with this book. The query is a rough draft, but you can get an idea of what I was trying to say. I guess we’ll never know if it would have worked.

QUERY FOR SILENT INVASION
They’re here. They’re hidden among us. They’ll stop at nothing to destroy us.
Because of your amazing track record at ? for selling middle grade books like ?, which is similar to my style, I’m writing to query you about my novel, SILENT INVASION. Thirteen-year-old Tim Madison is the only person who knows about and can stop ruthless creatures who are working deep inside our planet constructing a massive extermination army.

Returned home with new skills and this terrible knowledge, Tim confides in his two best friends about his experience. Now, they’re in a race against time to prevent an all-out attack on Earth.
Readers can expect deadly creatures, technical marvels, and in the end, something surprising to play a key role in winning the epic battle. SILENT INVASION is an action-packed 40,000-word stand alone book and the first in a completed series of three.

"Triumph Through Trial, A Story of Renewal" by award winning Christian author Theresa Franklin is an endearing story of the Owens family who went from discord, contention and strife to a new life full of renewal and triumph. Romans 8:28 states (NIV), "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." We can rest assured that even though there are trials, tragedies and hardships in life, if we live our life according to God's plans and purposes, He will work everything out in our life for good. Get ready to sit down, relax and enjoy this beautifully written book full of hope, encouragement and faith through the story of one family that overcame life's adversities through oneness in Christ.
Author, Theresa Franklin does a wonderful job in administering to the heart of families and encouraging families to stick together in love through this fictional short story. We all know what our lives look from the outside. But when we examine our family life from the inside, more than we like to admit, one will find dysfunction in the home. When we come to a place of acknowledging our sins and confessing them to God, God can work on our behalf. The author asks these important questions and urges us all to spend, "…time in front of God's mirror and try to see what those who know you best actually see? Are you a Christian? Have you accepted Christ as your savior?" In that, the author is asking, are you walking the walk and talking the talk? So many people profess to be Christians, but as Christians we should be exhibiting love, respect and service to our families in the home as well. If not, this book will lead the way to a new path of wholeness in Christ for families.
Driven by emotions, control, negativity, judgment and perfectionism, Cynthia is in complete denial of her behavior towards her family members. Severely affected, the husband is miserable, and her children avoid her as much as possible. Inevitably when there is dysfunction in the home, the author states, the stress can be measured in emotional and physical illnesses. Although the book is a fictional story, the author has described a very real and believable picture of how life is in our own families sometimes. The Owens family is torn from the inside out, due to stresses from the contention and discord caused by one family member suffering from deep emotional wounds caused from her own dysfunctional childhood.
This book is truly a blessing to families and the body of Christ. The author, through the use of scriptures and examples of family life, paints a wonderful picture of how life can be through the love and redemption of Jesus Christ. The author promotes family in this story of healing and encourages others, that "…love covereth a multitude of sins." Families will find solace and comfort through this book. Theresa's Franklin's writing style flows smoothly making for an easy read, keeping the reader fully engaged. This book will minister to all families that are "less than perfect." A highly recommend, encouraging read that will impact others for Christ. God can work in any situation, as the author illustrates, even the impossible ones.
