My newest book, "Southern Sage:The Honorable Woodrow Melvin" is a biography of one of Florida's respected Circuit Court Judges.
How many attorneys who start as small town lawyers end their careers as a judge on the Appellate court? Woodrow Melvin's passion for the law takes him on a journey into the courts of Florida as well as the State House of Representatives and the State Senate.
The stories Woodrow tells from his twenty years working as a circuit court judge are charged with emotion as the reader sees the gut-wrenching decisions he must make whether it be a life-changing child custody case or the life-sentencing of a hardened criminal.
Anecdotes, shared by his family, friends, and peers show Woodrow as a man of conviction, fairness, humility and humor. A familiar down-home, southern phrase often heard from him by atorneys when discussing a case goes like this, "You know, I don't believe that dog will hunt."
The legacy of this hard-working public servant continues to touch the lives of Floridians to this day, especially, in the areas of public health and education.
The old cliche', 'Home town boy makes good,' more than applies to Woodrow Melvin.

Give Me Liberty is the story of a young woman’s journey in 1953 from a small town in Michigan to New York City, where she struggles to fulfill her destiny. Eva Larkin dreamed of a writing career, but an unexpected pregnancy and marriage force her to set aside her dream as her life takes a completely different path. Soon Eva realizes that she is married to an alcoholic with a very bad temper, but blames herself and “that smart mouth of hers” for his violence and abuse. If she leaves him, she will be faced with raising a child on her own, at a time when divorce was neither common nor easily obtained. If she stays, her life may be in danger, and her son will be exposed to his father’s rage and violence. This novel, funny at times and often disturbing, will leave the reader with a renewed awareness of how women’s lives have changed in the past sixty years. Give Me Liberty is a story about strength, courage and determination that will resonate with men and women alike.

The Usurper is a fictional account of what would happen if the Soviet Union and KGB were given the chance to take down the United States from within. They use the American political system, education system, terrorism, and commit environmental disasters to achieve these goals.

The Soviet Union and the KGB refuse to let the purging of communists in the United States government by Senator Joe McCarthy and the House Un-American Activities Committee deter them. Soviet Premier Khrushchev authorizes the KGB to embark on an ambitious, decades long plan to destroy the United States from within through the corruption of American politicians, the American education system, terrorism, and environmental disasters.

Gary Jackson is the fulfillment of the KGB plan to destroy the United States from within. They raise him from birth to hate everything about the United States, indoctrinate him, and introduce him to terrorists across the world, where the KGB dictates all terrorist attacks. When Gary is a teenager, he is sent to the United States, with his fake birth certificate and social security number, to assimilate and begin his mission. Nothing will deter his goals of completely and utterly destroying the United States. When the Soviet Union dissolves, he is given a choice, and he decides to continue with the mission. A terrorist organization ends up filling in the gap left by the absent KGB, and they, together with Gary, conspire to destroy everyone in the United States who doesn't agree with them.

Find out what happens next, as a select few try to stop Gary Jackson.

Hope everyone will have a terrific weekend. I'm surely Blessed to work indoors, I've lived in Virginia my whole life and I definitely don't remember relentless heat like this summer. If I could stand laying on the beach I'd go to the oceanfront, but unless you stay in the water I don't know how you survive even at the oceanfront. Have a Blessed weekend!
