BEING YOUR OWN PUBLISHER

Yeah, yeah, there's new tech parameters and a paradigm shift and all that.

But the important thing is that there are (and always have been) alternatives to writing something then trying to sell the rights to a publishing company. This group is to explore these areas of self-owned publishing biz.

Some writers have niche books, some have special needs (like texts for their seminars), some are just too entrepreneurial to sell of their own inspirations. And some just want to see something in print.

There is a spectrum these days, from big publishers through the new, small POD publishers, to using publishing services like lulu.com or iuniverse, to printing yourself and selling online, to release of downloadable mp3 "podcasts" or pdf manuals.

If you have expertise, experience, or questions in this area, don't be shy about posting them here. It's a rapidly expanding field and nobody knows everything about it, but lots of us are learning enough to do what we want to do and successfully get it across the counter.

Sometimes life has a way of turning inside out and upside down. What do we do when our world changes for the worse? What do we do when our family has been broken apart and it looks as though all the pieces may never fit together again? There is hope, as author T.R. Lipscomb shares in her new book release, "Dearest Children-Why Have You Abandoned Me?"

T.R. Lipscomb courageously and openly shares her mother's heart, as she writes of her journey through a heart-wrenching betrayal of an unfaithful husband, and her journey through her life, marriage and the loss of her dear children that threw her into a pit of despair for years. Transparently, she shares her heartache as a heartbroken, confused wife and mother, deeply affected by betrayal and loss, including the loss of her own health.

Despite intense persecution from those closest to her and the absolute injustice of our own "court system", the author has emerged through this fiery trial healed and whole, and wanting to help others through their trials. She boldly proclaims the Gospel and triumphantly states that healing is available to all through Jesus Christ.

Filled with scripture, letters to her "Dearest Children" and many life lessons learned from the Lord, the author testifies to the glorious transformation taking place within her as she candidly shares her own unique story. Tried in the "fire of affliction", this woman has come through the fire as "gold" and encourages others that they too can have hope!

Come, read, and find beauty for ashes, and hope instead of despair…be inspired by her testimony as the author proclaims the Truth and reality of God's Holy Word. Share in her life's lessons from her Father in Heaven and learn from her story. Learn that you have a Father in Heaven who loves you, knows your needs and wants to restore you, your family and your life. This book triumphantly rejoices in God, His grace and mercy that is a testimony to the healing, love and restoration that is available to all if you put your trust in Him.

A highly recommended read - Proclaiming hope for the hopeless and giving others the encouragement that they may need to get through their own "trial", the author stands and proclaims that the justice of the Lord is near! Truly an inspiring life story!

Author Josefina Hernandez has beautifully woven scripture as the foundational backdrop in her biblically based fictional novel, “Chief Prince Archangel Michael of the Heavenly Wars.” This powerful new book release is a tale that speaks of the heavenly war in Heaven, the war of all wars. The author, through usage of powerful imagery and scripture has created a compelling, entertaining and biblically educational novel. With her use of Jewish lore, the author, inspired by the biblical teaching of the blessings of God has created a fantastic Christian book that promotes the existence of a real and loving God who desires relationship with His creation to the unbeliever and brings to the forefront the knowledge of the spiritual realm that exists eternally outside the confines of time. A promising and amazing read for all who desire a biblically based fantasy fiction novel - a page-turner from start to finish.

Join Michael, the Archangel, and the angelic hosts of Heaven as they battle Prince Archangel Lucifer, the once Anointed Covering Cherubim, created as one of the most beautiful of all the angels of Heaven. Once thought of as the angels’ brother, Lucifer has now become the enemy. Lucifer has let evil enter his heart. He wants to take the place of God, for pride has entered his heart and he sees himself as God. Cunningly and methodically he builds up his dark angelic forces to come under his authority and promises victory to all the fallen angels who join him.

In what appears to be peace, Lucifer plans his evil agenda against the Kingdom of God. Lucifer and his dark angels present a formable foe to Michael the Archangel and all the inhabitants of Heaven.

Commissioned by the Lord Almighty, Michael the Archangel is commanded to thwart this uprising. This is the war of all wars; the Great Heavenly War that was predicted long ago by an ancient prophesy that is now coming to pass in this creative, fictional work. Victory has been given to the victor; evil shall not prevail. Come and take a journey to the heavenly realm and re-live the battle that took place so long ago.

This book comes highly recommended and will surely delight the reader providing an incredible, thrilling, suspenseful, action-packed, romantic read for those that enjoy a fictional account of warrior angels and biblical knowledge written as fantasy.

MY JOURNEY AS A COMBAT MEDIC:
From Desert Storm to
Operation Enduring Freedom
by
Patrick Thibeault
US Army Medical Sergeant (Ret) & Family Nurse Practitioner
Hello, My name is Patrick Thibeault, and I am the author of the book " My Journey as a Combat Medic: From Desert Storm to Operation Enduring Freedom" I can be reached at  armycombatmedic1@yahoo.com and my phone number is 219 765 9141.
Combat Medics are the unsung heroes of war. Hollywood prefers to focus on the glamour of Special Operations units or the spectacle of major battles. Combat Medics seldom make the headlines. Yet without them, hundreds of thousands of soldiers and innocent civilians alike would die on the battlefield, never again to see their friends and families and country.
My Journey As A Combat Medic: From Desert Storm to Operation Enduring Freedom (IBJ Book Publishing, $17.00, October 2011) by Patrick Thibeault offers a compelling, insider’s account of what it is like to be a Combat Medic in time of war. Thibeault narrates the harrowing moments Combat Medics endure as they courageously rush into danger to save wounded soldiers and civilians, their tender compassion in the face of brutality and violence, and their unswerving dedication to making sure they accomplish their mission and take care of the wounded.
“There is no job like that of an Army medic,” says Thibeault “You will travel to places and see things that others can only dream about. It is not an easy job, but it is a rewarding one. The rewards are not badges, ribbons, or bonus money; the rewards come from the good feeling you get from healing people. You will learn new skills on the battlefield that doctors are not taught in medical school yet. You will experience the highs when you save a live. You will experience the lowest of lows when someone dies on you.”
Among the many topics Thibeault can discuss include:
· His experiences working in Task Force Phoenix helping to train a deployable Afghan army that will take over as American troops withdraw.
· Discover what it takes to be a top-notch Combat Medic. The training is long and rigorous. The Combat Medic must constantly prepare for the worst. To do so, he or she must not only know what to do in the heat of battlefield but also stay mentally and physically fit on and off the battlefield.
· Advice for those who aspire to become Combat Medics themselves one day.
· The truth about Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD) and how it affects veterans in particular. Learn why conventional treatments for it don’t always work for those subjected too long to the stresses of the battlefield.
· The unique bonds infantry and communication soldiers forge with combat medics.
· Growing up as a Army brat travelling around the world during the Cold War era
“Bin Laden is dead, Al Qaeda is in shambles, and the Taliban is weak, but we still have American fighting soldiers in Afghanistan ,” says Thibeault, who spent one year in Afghanistan . “The nation of Afghanistan needs infrastructure so people can have jobs and provide for their families. The Taliban took power in the first place because of the instability in Afghanistan . We want to end the war successfully. Ultimately the people of Afghanistan have to take the lead in this; otherwise there is no victory, regardless of definition. Victory in Afghanistan to me would mean a stable government, even with corruption that comes with it. Our enemies have been defeated but is it our job to build this nation?”
Amid the violence of war and the untold suffering it leaves in its wake, the Combat Medic’s humanity and compassion emerges as a bright beacon of hope. My Journey as a Combat Medic: from Desert Storm to Operation Enduring Freedom is a fascinating read that will entertain as well as educate readers about a facet of war that is far too often overlooked.
