Something About Me and My Book:
After 17 years in the child care business I've now moved on to sharing my experiences with others through my books and lectures. My book, "From Babysitter To Business Owner" shows providers how to improve their professionalism and quality of care they provide. "Because I Loved You" is my memoir of placing my son in an open adoption back in 1985. It's the first book on open adoption by a birthmother and a positive story for anyone touched by adoption to read. This summer I'll release my first children's book, "The Patty Cake Kids & The Lost Imagination Cap." I am very excited about this book! I wrote it with the help of my daycare kids so it is very close to my heart. It also will be the first children's book that is set in a family child care home - something I've been wanting to give these kids for a long time! Every book I do is in some way designed to make a difference in the life of a child.

Feeding The Pipeline

My sister, who is a realtor, often makes the comment: "I need to feed the pipeline." This is how she looks at her business - she puts something in - then something comes out. She "feeds" this pipeline with her marketing, and what comes from that is her business and income. "If you don't put it in, it's not going to come out," she reminds me.

Well, for the past two months I have not fed my pipeline - and it's showing! I'm not being hard on myself though, the reason for it is…

Learning the "Biz"

When I first decided to pursue a writing career I had these grand visions of being in a cabin on a lake somewhere and spending my days under a tree writing, then once a year or so I'd toss the manuscript into the mail to my agent and return to the tree to write some more. I had my first book published 3 years ago and I've been in a perpetual state of shock ever since! The little secret your English professor doesn't tell you is that in order to be a published author you also have to be very…

I agree we have a lot in common. If you would like to donate a set of your books to my next fundraiser for Saint Judes Hospital it would introduce your product to a wide audience here in Los Angeles. The event is a kids day, complete with petting zoo. Many parents and children will attend (400). The event is Oct. 13 so I will need your gift basket by Oct. 1. Right now I am at work, so I don't have much time to chat, but I will get back to soon so we can exchange company info and helpful tips. Smiles, Tena

Ha! My "cabin" was on the ocean and I had an awesome view of the mountains for my muse! I will tell all my Mommy friends about The Patty Cake Kids book--if you know any teens my YA novel, CONFESSIONS OF A CATHOLIC SCHOOLGIRL might be right up their alley.

Hi Patricia.

I did go to your web site, very impressive. My books are intended to help kids too, especially boys, 8 - 13, who don't like to read.

It's nice to know you.
