For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son,… Continue

Today, rather than sending a "Thought for Today", I will send a poem from Life in Poetry and Prose. I selected this randomly by simply opening the book and picking one that appeared. Maybe someone needs it today.
My Essence Concealed
I keep my essence in
a dark colored bottle,
the cork tightly placed in its top.
Protecting who I am;
hiding from those who
may hurt or misunderstand… Continue

A big part of the buzz over the Romantic Times Convention centers on the Mr. Romance Competition. This fine young man is Chris Winters, last year's winner.
The article sidebar Issues of Race in SF in this weeks' (April 13th) Publishers Weekly has a quote from BAS founder and 22nd Century Press publisher, Diane Williams.
Writer Rose Fox takes a quick look at two presses who produce speculative fiction for non-white readers and authors.…

Artist drawing of Hitch Village, courtesy of Savannah Morning News, circa 1957.
As a home to more than 200 families, Robert M. Hitch Village is the largest government housing project in Savannah, Georgia, and just happens to be the place where this particular author grew up until the age of twelve. Growing up there as a black youth in the 1960s, I never imagined that one day an African-American president, several years younger… Continue
Today I received a review from Margaret Orford, at Allbooks Reviews.
Allbooks Review International is another example of a great service that is available for authors without spending a fortune. The site http://www.allbookreviews.com/ has been voted 1 of 101 Best Websites for writers two years in a row by Writer's Digest. It also does not discriminate between Traditional and Print on Demand Publishers. That alone is something… Continue

In one week, I'll be heading for Orlando for the Romantic Times Convention. This will be my 4th time for this mega-party and I'm really looking forward to it. It's part fan-fest, part writers' conference, part orgy (Ok, I generally skip that part, but it's there.) I'll be rooming with Bobbi Smith, NY Times bestseller of too many western romances to count! We'll be working together Monday and Tuesday to put on her Aspiring Writer program of workshops. This will be the 3rd year I've done it and… Continue

Well, dear readers, in preparation for my upcoming writing class I set out to write a short story. I completed it a few weeks ago. Then I had an idea for a play, and I was able to complete that about a week ago. I've been getting more excited about starting my class... and then...
My computer's hard drive crashed.
Quit.
Kaput!
Sooo, thank goodness I have access to the short story and the play via email which I sent to a good friend of mine to read and… Continue

My name is Jenna Turnipseed. I am a newly published author. My book is called To Serve My Country, and is about my life as a soldier. I am looking for any kind of help, ideas, and advice that people can offer on marketing. Like everyone, I am sure, I would love to see my book do well, but do not know how to go about putting it out there.
Regards,
Jenna Turnipseed
