Thursday, July 4, 1776, promised to be a pretty day in Philadelphia with temperatures in the mid-seventies and a slight breeze from the North. Inside the Pennsylvania State House, however, it would be much hotter. The temperature would rise inside the closed meeting room, plus, emotions would run high due to the controversial subjects that would be…

“There is no coming to consciousness without pain.” ~ Carl Jung
Very few things are simultaneously as loving and painful as a kneading cat. Believe me, I would know; my cat, Wizard, is a twenty-pound bag of melted sugar and he regularly dispenses his love through the rhythmic action of his lion-sized paws.
Yesterday morning I was in for another dose of loving – Wizard jumped up on my chest while I was laying down on the couch still wearing pajamas and began walking over me… Continue
I have always been very health conscious. I eat tons of vegetables, I love fruits! I even eat tofu, lots of fish, and I just recently stopped eating beef and pork. I don't cook with a lot of salt, but I use lots of fresh herbs. I am even aware of the things that are put into our foods, such as high fructose corn syrup (and the many forms of it), preservatives, etc. All these years,…
Love is the Connection without Contact. A giving without offering. The depth felt, reguardless of the fathom to find. Blessings appreciated, and shared with those hopeful of a taste. The flavor of Love is the exotic meat, all wish to sink teeth into!

Despite all the buzz about ebooks, the printed book's not going to fade away - we want our favorite, most treasured books around us all the time ... and besides, they insulate a room wonderfully. But why are the major publishers doing their best to fight against the tide and kill ebooks off when they can help to publicize the print version?
For those who care, and may or not have noticed; I've been absent from blogging for the past couple weeks. Rest assured, although blogging,
tweeting, and writing are a few of life's endeavors I enjoy – I am
always mindful of keeping the balance.…
I would have to agree w/ Ms. Aurilia Sands' blog post on this site that the lack of distinction/differentiation between advice forums and ad-space can be discouraging. However, I think that the failure of the vast number of users to utilize the amazing opportunities offered by these forums leaves a vacuum that tends to be filled by what little is out there. I imagine that those who frequent this site have much to occupy their time. It is hard, however, to… Continue

Chicago. That’s where this road begins, that’s where my story starts, Chicago, Illinois. The city dangles on the lower neck of the Great Lakes like a glorious shining jewel. Its magnificent mile of towering steel and glass, the mix of concrete, green space and the lakefront make Chicago a Mecca on the Midwestern plains. Rising from the cornfields to the west, rising from the ashes of the past, this 21st century city is constantly reinventing, rebuilding, redoing itself until, someday, it will… Continue

Want to make a whole lot more from your non-fiction book -- maybe even enough to go full-time? After working with 9,300+ authors over the last 20 years, Steve Harrison has learned rich authors simply do seven key things differently than poor authors.
Join Steve for a free telephone seminar on Thursday April 15th and he'll share those things with you. I'm a compensated affiliate.
I'm doing a book marketing consult with a children's book author, Michael John McCann. He's a member of this network and he's looking for other children's book authors who would like to share success stories and work together to sell more books.
Why not sell a package of children's books, where 5 or 6 authors sell each other's books in a package for a discount?
Email: support@purpleupkin.com to start a conversation with Michael John McCann.
I joined this group some months ago because I believed it would be a great learning resource for not only myself, but the other authors who are contracted with me as well. When I started, I gleaned the forums and the posts, and there were some really good ideas and even words of encouragement. It was great. Finally, there was a place to converse with like-minded people and give and receive ideas. Lately, however, I've stopped looking at posts. I've stopped reading, and I've… Continue
I bet you guys thought I'd fallen off the earth! I've been busy finishing and working on my sequel, and haven't participated anywhere much lately, but it's good to check in.

In response to my other post this week, I was asked to go into more detail about authorship being a business. To make it clearer, I’ve broken it down two ways: Traditional Publishing and Self-Publishing. Most authors now-a-days are self-publishing, so we will start there.
Self-Publishing You complete your manuscript (Product) You spend money to have it packaged and printed and now you’re ready to introduce it to the world…
No SECRETS. No SURPRISES. Just hard information from an actual project using Google Books to BYPASS the traditional Book push marketing approaches. Can YOU afford NOT to know what we are learning with this technique?
