Anyone can give you ideas to help you get published. Here's a few helpful hints to make sure you never have to worry about getting The Call.
1.
Never finish a manuscript. Surely just your premise scrawled quickly onto the back of a napkin ought to be enough. It's the idea that counts.
2.
Don't accept critique from others. It's your story. You should be able to tell it from 37 different points of view if you want. And be sure to ignore the publisher's…

Hello!
I'm excited to announce my latest release, a Victorian historical titled, Her Shadowed Heart.
Blurb
Set in Yorkshire England 1864, Her Shadowed Heart is a historical saga of family secrets, betrayals, love, and of new beginnings.
Anna Thornton leads a privileged life, but she’s not content. When the dashing Matt Cowan sweeps her off her feet, she thinks her boring existence has changed for the better, only all is not…

I have a copy of Sue Grafton’s text, “Writing Mysteries.” In my office. Somewhere. It is a really good reference for anyone looking for practical information on the art of writing in the mystery/detective fiction genre. In it is a chapter on the rules of mystery writing and how to break them. I was grateful that unconsciously, I followed most of her advice in my writing long before I knew she had advice. I’m still looking for the book, however. Unlike my writing, I don’t know how this…

Holly Cow what a great network of which to me a member. I only just joined yesterday and already I've picked up tons of good information on how to promote a book. For me the information is simply invaluable because it comes from direct experience and not simply theory.
Self promotion can be a tough job. This is something which which I am very familiar. In the early 90's I was the owner operator of a small Canadian import / export and distribution company. I sourced products overseas…

Writing is by nature a solitary profession and more than occasionally frustrating. This is especially true when it comes to marketing yourself as a writer, pitching a book proposal or article or promoting something you've already published.
A network like this is a great place for writers to hang out and exchange information, tips and generally rub elbows with other writers. I's often said that misery loves company but, just being part of a supportive network might in fact make one…

I am a big fan of Shel Silverstein, one of the best poets I've ever read (W.B. Yeats not withstanding). I have been re-accquainted with his writing thanks to my children. I recently posted a personal look at how I write. This one might work just as well.

3. Stop, look, and listen. And smell and taste while you’re at it. Books are a wonderful way to convey your ideas, but if you want to add texture and substance, you have to use all your senses. It’s not enough to say you ate delicious Buffalo chicken wings, though to be honest that should be enough. From what I understand, there are a few people that have never eaten Buffalo wings before. For those people, you can tell them about the steam rising off the plate of red-sauced chicken parts, awash…

Ah, Spring that wonderful season of renewal and rebirth. Much like writing; Spring brings to mind newly budding ideas, forming and taking shape under caring compassionate hands. Like a gardener tending his plants with gentle concern while making certain that weeds don’t overtake the beauty, a writer must do the same thing.
It is often difficult to see the weeds for a weed and not beautiful flowers when a new work is first flowing from the tips of fingers tapping in rapid fire… Continue
