October news from Pamela Swyers

October is bringing some gorgeous weather our way here in Georgia and I am eating it up. My favorite time of the year. October is also exciting because it will see the release of "Playing with Fire", the third Adison Taylor-Hall book in the series that began with "Boys with Cars". It is in the final stages of production and should be available for purchase well before trick-or-treating time. Buy it as a…

Today in Science Class - Instilling Christian Values in Today's Children - Review by Lauren S. Smith

http://www.todayinscienceclass.com/

What do you do when your child comes home from school and asks questions about God versus what he learned today in science class? It's normal for kids to question beliefs and values and it's difficult to counter the information that's being fed to them every day in public schools.

Christian educator, David Millette, has written a brave new book, Today in Science Class: Ben's Big Bang…

The Importance of Promoting Your Book

After a book is published, an author’s responsibilities are just beginning. Many people think that an author can now relax after the book has been written and begin their next book, but it’s not so. An author must promote his or her book by doing four things that will enhance the book’s success.

First, create an attractive website. People want to know who the author is and what other books have been written. Make sure that your site can be loaded easily. If it can’t be loaded within 10… Continue

Slightly Maudlin Musings from a very sleepy writer

Have just watched a movie - 'Kids' from 1995. Very confronting, and deals with underage sexual activity. One of the characters is diagnosed HIV positive. This is the most depressing movie I have seen since 'Hunger'. But I don't mind a depressing movie occasionally. Life is not all beer and skittles. But right now I'm ready to go and stick my head in the toilet.

Could be just that I'm exhausted. My other half and I baby sat three kids last night, along with our two, as well as…

How to Get a Nonfiction Book Published - A Bulletproof Book Proposal For Publishing Agents - by Robert Bly

You have a great idea for a nonfiction book. Everybody thinks it's a great idea. But will a book publishing company think it's a great idea - enough to pay you an advance, commission you to write it, publish your book and sell it?

That will depend largely on your book proposal. Here's where you demonstrate persuasively that your idea has merit, and that the company will benefit from publishing your book. Of course, even a solid idea and a great book proposal can't guarantee…
