Heath Lowrance starts new series: “Deadland, USA”

Just in time for Halloween, Heath Lowrance starts a new series with Trestle Press called “Deadland, USA”. Here are the details:

“It's all over now. The world as we knew it is gone forever and there will be no future generations to read this. One ugly day in March the undead came and none of us were ready. How could we be? Within months, the entire planet was one writhing, bloody infestation, and all the governments, all the churches, all the great men of power and insight and wisdom,…

Lee Child "The Affair"

Okay, I can hear you groan from over here, I am a homer for Lee Child’s writing. I know, so what, the man can just write. I totally loved this novel from start to finish. The flashback into Reacher’s life and what catapulted him into his nomad existence is an intense read. The layers of this novel, the deception and nest of lies were fun to read as it unfolded. Very few authors can deliver a read like this: the detail, the minutia, the small bread crumbs of fact smattered with the fog of…

"New Kids on The Rock" Mark Miller's new Children's Digital Short Story Series

I enjoy sharing stuff to read with my younger kids. This is such a story. In fact this is something that besides being an enjoyable read is also educational, and we can all use a bit of that on occasion can’t we? I like the mix, and it fits right in, it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb. Mark Miller has introduced some nice characters, doesn’t speak down to a soul, and carries off a very difficult high wire act. That for me is a bargain at any price, this just happens to be…

Natasha Deen "True Grime"

I have had the good fortune to have interviewed Natasha Deen on a few different occasions on The-GZONE, my blogtalk radio show. She is a blast; please go back to the interviews and get a feel for this fun, energetic author. She infuses this story with plenty of eye wink-wink fun, merriment and tongue in cheek craziness. Her plotline is unique, the narrative right on the mark, and the prose is just too much. If you have not yet had the chance to read one of her stories, please take the time…

Christian/Inspirational authors panel today at 5.30pm EST on The G-ZONE

The week just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Today I have at least three authors on the blogtalk radio show at 5.30 pm EST today. They are in no particular order: Karen Anna Vogel, Karen Malena and Roger Rheinheimer. Will we have fun, you bet, that was a bad question.

Karen Anna Vogel is the author of the hugely successful “Amish Knitting Circle” digital short story series. Her first one “Beginnings-Volume 1”, hit Number One on the Amazon Kindle charts for short stories. Not in its…

Ninety nine cents, what the heck am I getting?

For ninety-nine cents, what the heck am I getting? In most cases a lot! Think about this moment and follow with me. When you went to the supermarket last time what did that buck grab you? A pack of gum, no, a 20 oz. carbonated beverage, again no, toilet paper, one roll and a little change maybe, a loaf of bread, again no. Enough of that? Good. Now picture an author hard at work on a story. How long do you think they labor over a digital short story? Minutes, an hour, more? I go with the more…

Stephen H. King Guest Post

I’m Stephen King.  Really, that’s my name.  No, not that one.  I’m the other Stephen King, or TOSK as I sometimes sign my blog posts and other works.  No. I didn’t write all those scary books.  No, I don’t live in Maine; it’s one of the few states, in fact, that I’ve never even visited.

Yes, I’ve been answering questions with the above phrases for most of my life.

I’m Stephen H. King.  I didn’t write the scary books, but I did write Married to Mars, a…

Sprinting To Marathon Nigel Bird Guest Post

Writing and athletics. Not things I usually link together.

I was thinking about the different skills used in longer and shorter events - the marathon and the sprint, the novel and the short story.

There aren't many sprinters out there who can turn in a good marathon time and there aren't too many middle-distance runners challenging the 100m world record. They have different muscle strengths and skill sets which mean that it doesn't work to spread the net too…

Michael Tabman new series with Trestle Press “Bad Intent”

I was really pumped to hear that an author with Michael Tabman’s background has signed with Trestle Press to do an incredible series wrapped around the world of FBI undercover work. The work is so real and authentic that before it can even be edited, it must first be vetted by the FBI itself to be sure that nothing of a secret or sensitive nature be released. As a reader that has me amped up. I am looking forward to listening to what he, Michael Tabman, has to say as he is part of the first…

Paul D. Brazill’s “Drunk on The Moon” series volume 5 with Richard Godwin “Getting High on Daisy”

Digital short stories , yeah , I love them. They are cool, quick and fulfilling. This series, “Drunk on The Moon”, has been done with plenty of plucky zest, verve, and style right from the first one by the creator, Paul D. Brazill through this installment done by Richard Godwin. “Getting High on Daisy” definitely has struck a different chord from the rest of the installments, shakes it up in ways that show the Godwin flare, and a bit of his mystique, but all in all, this series has not had a…

Victoria Watson “I Should Have Seen It Coming”

What happens when you are supposed to be a pyshic and can’t see your nose to spite your face; hey you have a digital short story by Victoria Watson. The story is fresh, has a nice twist to it, and really is very refreshing. Victoria Watson has imbued this story with plenty of heart, soul, and emotion. For the price paid, it is a bargain. I find the digital short stories to be a great snack of a read in between full length novels or just to take a break from the mundane. This one was tasty to…

Col Bury starts new series with Trestle Press/Dark Pages Press

Here is what to expect:

Manchester 6 focuses on the best and worst of human nature, personified in the gritty urban setting of Manchester, UK, and featuring a plethora of no-nonsense characters you’d ordinarily want to avoid.  The six stories highlight generally decent folk who become embroiled with the lower echelons of society, aka scumbags.  Whether it’s the paranoid, spliff-sucking writer who has a falling-out online, or an ex-soldier hunting a notorious gang,…
