Find out what happens when Alec Avery gets an unwelcome blast from his drug-dealing, street-running past that turns his life upside down. Back in the day, he was known as “Smoke” and Anne Phillips was one of his customers. So how did they end up with a teenage son together? You do the math. Dollars make sense, but Anne didn’t always have the money to pay for what she wanted. Now Alec is paying the price.
These days he’s a military vet and a well-respected high school teacher. Just…

* Pitch Formula: "How to find _________ without _____________"
And here's a couple of examples of how you might apply it:
> Show Pitch: "How to find out how much money someone makes
without them knowing out about it"
> Show Pitch: "How to find that long lost high school sweetheart
without spending a fortune on a private investigator"
Or how about "How to find out how your spouse really feels about
you ... without asking them…

Greetings dolphin lovers. In this interview you will gain insight into what makes dolphins such supremely great creatures. The main character in my book, Wai-nani-High Chiefess of Hawaii, has an intimate relationship with a dolphin family. This interview is a by product of the extensive reseach into dolphin behavior for my novel.

Copyright: How to Protect Your Work.
Some where along the way someone started the rumor that by simply writing a piece a writer automatically has the copyright--that US Copyrights are unnecessary to protect your work. I have also heard that the process is very complicated. All three are untrue. Mailing a copy to yourself and leaving it unopened to keep the postal stamp valid is call the poor man's copyright. It is a good temporary way of protecting your work, however it is only…

There’s no such a thing, is there? Since I’ve not found games specifically for the blind, just about any game can be adjusted to those with low vision. I remember playing horseshoes when I lost my sight. Someone stands by the target spot and taps the metal, creating the sound to guide my aim. Sighted folks use their eyes to see where to throw; I use my hearing with the same goal.
Through the years I’ve tried crazy things, even drove a car once. But last night my son invited me to…

I've been writing hubs at HubPages for a while and recently realized how helpful they could be for book marketers when I created these hubs for a publisher:
Spoonerisms: Twisted Tales and Fables
Animal Jokes for Grownups
HubPages provides a great free way to promote books and get links, so I highly recommend it. They also…

Frankfurter Book Fair:
Pearls from the Bosporus (Satis Shroff)
What happens when a TV moderator organises a show and prizes are awarded to Veronica Ferres 43 (best actress), Misel Maticevic 38 (best actor), ‘Contergan’ (best film) and the best show ‘Germany sucht den Superstar?’ An award show is in itself a comedy and slapstick affair but Thomas Gottschalk made a mistake this time. You can’t award stars and starlets, pruducers and directors in the same way you that you…

My short story e-book collection 'The Voice of Anton Bouchard' is currently riding high at number 3 in the Stonehedge Publishing Fictionwise best seller list. The rise in the chart seems to have coincided with the release of the short video trailer for the book, which perhaps illustrates the use of video in the marketing of our work. I have to say I'm thirlled to see the book suddenly take off like this.
The book contains a range of stories…

Publishing News:
When I lost my husband to divorce after nearly thirty years of marriage, I read everything I could, desperate to learn how other women coped and what they did to rebuild their lives. Beyond the Quiet, my new novel scheduled for release in spring, 2009, is my version of how one woman struggles though bitterness, loss, and betrayal, learning to cherish each moment and follow her long-buried dreams.
Beyond the Quiet, by Brenda…

It's been a super week. The library event last Saturday went well, even if it wasn't highly attended. Thanks to all the poets who read, I appreciate your participation in our Poets Corner. I did have a nice group for my brief Internet ACE presentation, only wish I had more time.
In addition, I got to spend several days with a great friend who visited Las Vegas. It's always fun to get to be a tourist in my home town and seeing Bette Midler perform was a great…
