There's a book in there somewhere

May 10th. 2015

I’m still on that learning curve, but slowing down a little. I know I will not make my own, self-imposed deadline of June to finish my WIP, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. I have so much to do alongside the creative process, and not just promotion etc., but also work around the house; trips out, essential business. All part of life’s rich pattern really. Well, my life.

I’ve scheduled a book promotion for Monday 11th. This is for A…

Author Earnings Report

Triggered Book Study 3 could have been this title.  Now I keep getting these things. For those of you who think all authors are raking in the cash, you may have cause to reflect on the reality of the publisher percentages. This came from another conversation with science-fiction author John Daulton. Turns out it is also another Hugh Howey comment. But, enough of the chatter, just hop over to the 2015 Author Earnings Report:…

The Art of Healing

Healing from the pain and depression we experience throughout our lives isn’t easy. We can’t just snap our fingers and feel okay the next minute. It is a long process that we have to take step-by-step, and there are no shortcuts. According to Dr. Les Parrott and Dr. Neil Clark Warren, there are three components in the healing process. First we must identify our blind spots; second, we must stop the blame game, and finally we must learn to forgive.

Identifying our issues is…

Poem: Never in Jeopardy

Some days seem to be strangely ominous

and I’m reluctant to leave my comfy bed;

therefore, I clothe myself with Truth,

since I have nothing to fear or dread.

The inspirational courage of Your Word,

girds the frailty of my spiritual essence.

Wherever, I willfully determine to go,

I’m comforted by Your nearby Presence.

Despite the many, evil distortions,

created by human desire and wickedness,

I’m not motivated by fear, circumstance

or…

Poem: Religious Brands

It’s really shameful to acknowledge

the divisiveness of all denominations;

a continuing lack of understanding is…

diluting Love’s message of Salvation.

The ongoing promotion of religious brands

has not convinced or impressed the World;

the wholeness of God’s holy Word must be

embraced by everyone, as His boys and girls.

These current disagreements and hostilities

of religious debates waste our precious time;

clearly a lack of…

Communing with God

Communing is more than simply exchanging thoughts with someone; it means being in an intimate conversation that reaches a state of heightened understanding and sensitivity. To commune with God means to give Him your undivided attention and to converse with Him with profound intensity. Open your heart and mind to welcome Him so that you can readily interchange ideas and sentiments with Him. Our God is our Father. But above all that, He is an amazing friend that you can trust your life with.…

Spiritual Connectedness

The goal in our spiritual lives is always to reach the true self, to further develop our inner life. We can do this by engaging in spiritual practices like meditation, prayer, contemplation and many others that can help us reach a spiritual experience of connectedness with a larger reality. This spiritual connectedness we get from this can yield a more comprehensive self with other individuals, with nature or the cosmos, and with the divine realm.

This is what ascension can give us.…

Kindness

Kindness is very important if we are striving to create a world where non-violence is promoted. Scripture tells us, “As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience (Colossians 3:12 nrs)”. Showing kindness to one another is a key aspect of how we should live our lives according to the teachings of God. If we want to live in a world full of peace, love, harmony, joy, prosperity and all of God’s goodness, it is important…

A Childhood Lost

Living in Europe during the 1940s wasn’t easy. My home was lost, and with it, my childhood.

War. War never changes. The innocent always suffer during armed conflicts, and it is no different in Germany during the 1940s. Life was good to me when I was a child growing up in Falkenau, Silesia, East Germany, however, it soon changed in January 1945. With the Russian and Polish army approaching, my family – my mother with us five small children ranging in age from one and a…

Does “Happily Ever After” Still Exist?

The existence of a happily ever after has caused a never-ending debate between skeptics and hopeless romantics everywhere in the world. One party says it can only exist in fairy tales, while the other says it can also happen in real life.

What is a happily ever after to begin with?

In fairy tales, a happily ever after often signifies the end of the story. In real life, however, it signifies the beginning of the rest of two people’s lives.

A happily ever after can…

ISIS, ISIL, IS, or Al Qaeda Version 2.1?

Okay, let’s see. The most common acronym you hear is ISIS. The U.S. officially calls it “ISIL”, but since “Daesh” was the preferred term used by Arab allies, top U.S. officials also decided to use that. A number of major news organizations also call it the Islamic State, and the militant group itself wants to be called that way. Why is there so many names for a single organization? Well, no matter how many names the media gives them, one thing is clear; they do not represent Islam.  Read…

The Difficulties People Face When They Adopt: A Look at the Documentary “Adopted”

I just watched the documentary “Adopted” and it is quite intriguing.

The documentary shows us two sides of the same coin. One family, the Trainers, is full of joy and optimism as they embark on their journey to adopt a child from China. On the other side of the coin, we get to see Jennifer Fero, an adult Korean adoptee, and her parents as they struggle to help Jennifer come to terms with her adoption. As you can see in the documentary above, adoption isn’t easy. It’s not easy on…
