We finished the writing program and it was a blast! We created a book of the kids' short stories that will be in the school library. As we conducted the class, we developed a teacher's guide, student workbook, and PowerPoint slides. Now we are polishing these into a creative writing course that we can sell to homeschool parents.

I received a wonderful message from a lady called Darlene Campbell on Outsider Writers yesterday. Darlene is from Kentucky but has roots in the Aztec Culture and her words moved and touched me deeply. I'm so grateful that my book could engender such feelings. She has given me her permission to reproduce her words here, and this is what she had to say.
First of all, I honestly DO think this cover is awesome, and secondly, I just discovered your work and can hardly wait to read it!…Continue

What do these leaders have in common: Lee Iacocca, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, and Michael Dell? According to a recent survey of sales professionals, these are the greatest salespeople of our time. Their very selection reinforces the concept that each of us must sell to survive. Whether you’re selling a promise to the federal government, faith to the American people, or a computer to quality-conscious consumers; whether you’re selling the importance of learning to schoolchildren,… Continue
One of the joys of writing has been watching my stories visit lots of interesting places in the world! MAIDENSONG was my debut title (written under my real name Diana Groe!) So far it's been translated into German and Dutch. I just learned today that foreign rights have been sold to a Russian… Continue

I ban anyone who is a porn, sex, or other spammer from this network. I want to keep this network clean and usable by those of us who want to talk about books, publishing, marketing books, etc.
If you ever discover someone who joins this network to spam, let me know. I'll ban them as soon as I come to the network. I check at least once a day on most days.

Ever want to kill someone off--fictitiously, of course? Maybe your school bully, ex-boyfriend, co-worker, boss, teacher etc? Now you can! :-)
From now until July 30th, 2009, you can submit a name (first & last) of someone you know (boss, husband, school bully, ex-friend or yourself), or a fictitious name.
I am looking for a male name, suitable for a 50-ish cigar-smoking man.
On August 1st, 2009, I will select one winner from all the entries… Continue
Ever feel frustrated when there’s not enough time in the day to read everything?
Now this is an impossible expectation to lay on myself, but there are times when I just cannot keep my eyes open any longer…and darn it, I really wanted to finish what I started reading.
Are you a published author? Do you belong to a group? Do other published authors belong to the same group? Does your local news media pay any attention to their local authors or just the ones on the best seller list?
Here is what we did in Las Vegas to get some local recognition.
Our paper listed the top ten best sellers in fiction and non-fiction. They did special reports on books by the authors with name recognition such as Bill Clinton; John McCain; you get the idea. First we had a… Continue
My last Gotham Short Story writing class was this past Tuesday, 6/16 and in looking back I see I've made some friends, had an excellent teacher, learned a lot from everyone in the class and, the cherry on the cake, I've gotten some budding stories well underway.
Now that I won't be spurred on by meeting weekly with my class, I've found that I still have momentum and motivation to continue. I need to ensure that motivation is maintained for the weeks and months ahead. In part, I know… Continue
