Fighting the Traffic Jams of Life

Back in my hometown of La Paz, Bolivia, traffic can roil anyone’s nerves. Red lights are commonly ignored. Stop signs do not exist. But the horn does, one loud beep alerts those on the crossing street you’re coming through.

Amazingly, serious accidents are not common. Fender benders, yes. A cab ride through those crowded streets promises an adventure with unexpected episodes worth writing…

Thanks! Divided or United? (July 4)

While colorful fireworks burst through the dark skies, and red, white and blue flags flap in the wind, a sense of pride swells up in me. Not an arrogant pride, but one of gratitude and appreciation. Let me tell you why.

Are you a maybe baby?

Last week I was stuck, really stuck. In writing a story, I ran into a wall of nothing. My creative flair had reached a dead end. I tried to add spice to a scene I was crafting, but …had nothing but blank thoughts!
