I was/and am in no competition with you of who has or is suffering more. This is not why I wrote to you. I wrote because of the bitterness I could read below the printed word. If I am mistaken, I do apologise.

I don’t think you had a look at my website before you replied; as if you would have, you would have known that my book is not about persecution, but about rebuilding. It’s about the building of renewed life in a very old, neglected & forsaken dessert & malaria (amongst others) infested no-man’s-land: About the rebuilding of a new society in a very poor & hostile environment with no funds but with a lot of good will and elated spirit - with a vision.

Reading your short on the left, made me want to say few things to you, and I hope you don't mind.

The undertone of your writing sounds very bitter to me, and I do understand it. However, there are many minorities in this world who suffer from one oppressor or another, and need to adjust to whatever befalls them. You are not alone in this.
I belong to one of those groups. We were exiled out of our own homeland and were dispersed 2000 years ago by the then most powerful and cruel empire in history. A group that suffered none-stop from oppression, humiliation, mass extermination and everything else you can only think off. But, just as you have done much better and have gained your place in the American society of today, my group of people have gone in another direction to get to the same aim.

We have a lot of underlying racial tensions that goes on to this day here, and most level headed people from all diverse backgrounds try to see things from the other persons viewpoint. Not always possible, but one can but try.
