Voice of Conscience is an emotional journey from the shadowed heart of painful human experience to someplace that provides hope but without facade. As the reader follows the protagonist through changes and mistakes and wise choices the humanity is real and raw. It is an uncomforatble book because it occasionally makes you stop and think and even after closing its final pages, questions and ideas continue to haunt. A strong start for what will sure to be an important new voice. Due to some…

My Dad has always been a source of wisdome and common sense in my life. Even though I am long grown up, (debate on that point may be open), he stil manages to share with me little nuggetts from time to time, and I like to think of myself as smart enough to listen to good advice when I hear it. The following was written by George Carlin, and came to my attention via my Dad. You may have seen it, or heard about it, but it’s still profound and worth sharing.
A Message by George…

This is the proposed cover design for my latest novel, 'Pestilence'. It still has a bit of work left to be done before it's fully ready, but I thought I'd share it with my frineds here. The artwork is by my brilliant friend and cvoer designer Graeme S Houston, the man who can actually 'see' my books in his mind, and then 'thinks in pictures' in order to design my covers. The man is a veritable genius and I don't know what I'd do without his amazing work on my cover designs. Thanks…

Hi Everyone,
Boy did I have an unusual day. First of all, at the last minute I was asked to be a guest author at the Border Queen Book Festival held today in Comanche, OK. I didn't have time to get any copies of my first book, "Faith, Hope... and the greatest of these is LOVE"; and my second one isn't due to be released until April 20th. So, all I had was one book (for display only), 10 book markers, and my business cards. I offered to take orders, but nobody wanted to. I had a framed copy…

V.B. Rosendahl's new novel 'Bitter Tastes', Tween Mystery (ages about 8-14), available on amazon.com.
As I wrote in my summary, this book I picked up because I'd read such a fine piece of fiction from this new press. I bought it for my neices, twins and thought I'd read it first. I wasn't intending to review it but I was really excited by finding such a fine piece of fiction and that in a nutshell explains how this book ended up being reviewed by me. If I find a good book, I want to…

Kate Rizor's Contemporary Romance by Veronica Grant House, republished with permission
To this day, I still do not know who gave me this book. It has a big blue cover with a gorgeous front design on it.
Then, I opened it. I read and read and read and read this book. I think supper burned but oh well because I wasn't going to put this book down.
I brought this book to my book club meeting and of course, we assigned it a date. It was totally amazing because most…

Wolfgang Graf: A Freiburger Feingeist (Satis Shroff)
Wolfgang Graf was born in Freiburg-Zähringen and did his schooling at the Kepler Gymnasium. Later he studied Biology and Chemistry at the Freiburger University because he thought then that it would be good to be a teacher in a school. But he didn’t teach and worked instead in the quality control department of a factory lab, which produced…

I highly recommend that any author who utilizes a digital/POD printer to read this article: http://www.writersweekly.com/the_latest_from_angelahoycom/004597_03272008.html
Amazon's Booksurge is contacting publishers and requesting that they use Booksurge to print their books - or have their Buy Now button removed from their listing on Amazon. This will affect many authors!
My books are currently printed by Lightning Source and when I open my own publishing company next…

I am attending the Colorado Independent Publisher's Association (CIPA) College in Denver. This college is designed to help independent publishers, authors and writers to get their books into print and into the market place.
The CIPA college runs March 27, 28 and 29, 2008. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in writing or publishing to associate with their peers in the industry. I will post some of my insights in the next week or so.
Sincerely

That was the message my friend received in her inbox. It was her hubby who had come to her office door; once, twice informing her it was dinnertime. And my friend, like me, kept on going to finish that "one last item" before she pushed away from her computer.
Until hubby, exasperated, sent the email exclaiming he was indeed starved.
Could he have just fixed himself something to eat? Sure he could’ve. But what he wanted was her company and the opportunity to share those moments…

Commentary on Tibet:
Dalai Lama’s Realpolitik: A Policy of Appeasement (Satis Shroff)
The Chinese poet Dong Guanfu writes in his blog: “We cannot win the heart of the Tibetans if we only develop their economy. If we cannot manage to understand this, then many other conflicts will follow. There’s no denying that one of the reasons of staging the Olympic Games is that we want to make money. But the greater value of…

1. FINISH THE BOOK! ~ Back in the 1980's it might have been possible for a newbie to sell on speculation, but those days are gone forever. You MUST type "the end" before you send a query or give a pitch at a conference. Until you finish the manuscript, you have nothing to sell but a handful of fingers.
2. POLISH YOUR PROSE! ~ Good enough just won't do. You're competing for publishing slots with NY Times BestSellers. Tighten your story till it pings. By the time I'm ready to turn in a…

In an e-mail I received two days ago the CEO of Rain Publishing, who were due to release 'Glastonbury' in four weeks, informed that due to personal health reasons, the publishing company wil be closing with effect from 15th April. She has what appears to be an aggressive and as yet un-named, (though easily guessed at), illnesswhich is life-threatening and she has to devote all of her time to trying to beat it. This means that 'Glastonbury' is now back to square one, as she will be releasing me…

I have the honor of promoting
Return of the Sword on a virtual blog tour during the month of April but you can get a headstart by checking out these posts.…
