A frequent question...

Some of you have asked me…How do you manage to do all you do? God shepherds me along to hold a full-time job and also work full-time on my speaking and writing ministry. Hubby and I have been discussing cutting back on my job to dedicate more time to write and study the writing craft.

But is it my desire? Or God’s nudging.

Here’s insight from a successful author who took that…

Encouraging Words for Care Givers of All Kinds

If you’re a care giver for your kids or someone who is elderly or infirm, sometimes you feel overwhelmed and frustrated because there seems to be no end to the things you need to do and there’s no time to focus on your own needs. It seems no one really understands what you are going through. Jesus does understand and is here…

Promoting Your Book When You Have No Time to Promote

Not having enough time to promote is one of the most common complaints I hear from authors. Yes, book promotion takes time, but you won’t sell many books without it. Here’s a trio of tips to make the process easier:

  1. Focus your time on the publicity efforts that generate the best results. You’ll soon know whether a mention on a blog or published article results in a surge in book sales. In addition, track your web statistics to see where your traffic is coming…

Review for Sleep Before Evening by Magdalena Ball

Hi, folks!

I rarely accept requests to review books - only because it's so hard to fit in my own writing in the few hours a day I have left after the "day" job and related family responsibilities. ;o) But here is one I agreed to read/review - 'cause I know Maggie Ball is a wonderful writer. She runs the www.compulsivereader.com site - check it out if you haven't yet.…

A visit to Red Deer Chapters

Yesterday, I visited the Red Deer Chapters and held a book signing during the afternoon. The staff was awesome and very helpful, and the customers were great.

I'm quite happy to say we sold out of Whale Song, and I sold some copies of The River and Divine Intervention as well. But as always, it is…

Testimony

"Raise your right hand. Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but?"

I must repeat this oath at least a dozen times a day. Oh no! Not because I’m in court giving my own testimony. What I am doing, as a Spanish Court interpreter, I am interpreting court proceedings. Among the dialogue between judge and defendant is the oath all…

Has anyone had success getting listed on NoveList?

It looks like a new service offered through the public libraries, called NoveList, is becoming a great resource for readers who are starting book clubs or looking for suggestions for books to read. Anyone have any experience with getting their books in the NoveList databases? As far as I can tell, and I might be wrong, it looks like this is a resource that is used from state to state (not a national database). Any information would be appreciated.

Publishing Logo Question

My husband is a terrific artist (for everyone else but me). He graduated from the Chicago School of Art back in the 1960's. I think that is the one he graduated from. Anyway, I have been trying for 2 years to get him to do the logo for my publishing company. I have drawings/doodles all over the house on pieces of paper that he has done, but none of them a logo.

My question is: Is it necessary to have a logo of the publishing company on or in the book or is just the company name and…
