Exciting News

I just wanted to share my good news with anyone interested.

Last Saturday, September 15, my new book of Old Testament stories, How Often Would I Have Gathered You, received a prestigious Our History--Our Heritage Publications Award (Golden Quill) from the League of Utah Writers. Needless to say, I am very pleased and excited about this honor. :-)

Give thanks in all things? No way!

In the past I’ve gone through tough tests, painful trials and agonizing tragedy. And you’d think I’d be a pro at facing them, enduring them and move forward unscathed.

Nope. I still battle with subtle attacks. Recently we had an issue with one of my sons. The results and consequences could have been tragic and…

This Side of Four in the Morning

I fully intended to go to bed early and get a good night's sleep. I was

tired and have yet to shake this low-grade fever that has been

lingering for a week now. I made my way to bed at a reasonable hour,

for me anyway, and after some very pleasant pillow talk and other stuff

I won't go into, I lay in bed, drifting off to the sound of something

on the television and the white noise of the fan, very peaceful and

content in my little world.

I fully intended… Continue

Canadian Idol Eva Avila is reading Whale Song in Edmonton

Today I got quite the surprise. I was barely listening to an announcement on the radio--91.7 The Bounce, to be exact, and I heard Eva Avila's name come up. It didn't twig completely until they started talking about the Oil Kings game. (I just don't DO sports! ) Then it hit me.

Eva Avila was coming to Edmonton!

Now…

the ballad of the o'donnell house

If you click on the song I just added to "MY PAGE", you will hear me singing a song I wrote in 2004 entitled "THE BALLAD OF THE O'DONNELL HOUSE". It was written about a house - demolished a year ago this November - that was the inspiration for my novel, THE PIPES ARE CALLING.

The song tells the story of a massacre that happened in the early hours of the morning on December 10, 1875 in a little coal patch called Wiggans near Mahanoy City, Schuylkill County, in the heart of anthracite…

So I do a little dance...

When a package comes in the mail, I wiggle in a happy dance and giggle like I did in high school. This isn't just a package nor the contents common, ordinary items. But they're carriers of love, kindness and thoughtfulness.…

Great Speaking Engagement

Well last night I spoke to a really wonderful group of ladies (and one gentleman) from eight book clubs who were holding their annual "all clubs together" meeting. They had invited me to come join their meeting to speak about my road to publication. I was thrilled that almost all sixty of these folks had purchased my book and were prepared not only to listen intently to my tale, but ask really wonderful questions about my writing. I signed a lot of autographs and received and gave…

S.O.S.: Need Audio Book Help

Hello Everybody!

I want to record my book to make an audio book but I don't know where to start reading. Do I read everything from the copyright page to index? Or, do I start at the first chapter? Also, many pages of the book are sample applications, letters etc. Is there a way I can include these pages? They are a huge benefit to purchasing the book. Somebody please help me; and thank yall' in anticipation!

Review by Urban Reviews: Black People: For Entertainment Purposes ONLY by: W. Ivan Wright

African-American author Jurney Swiftwood is riding on the road of success until he releases his latest novel Black People: For Entertainment Purposes Only. The title to his book alone is causing a firestorm of controversy in the black community and Jurney finds himself defending the book on various talk shows. On top of all this, Jurney is unknowingly being stalked by a politically connected contract killer and has just found out about a daughter that… Continue
