I'm starved!

That was the message my friend received in her inbox. It was her hubby who had come to her office door; once, twice informing her it was dinnertime. And my friend, like me, kept on going to finish that "one last item" before she pushed away from her computer.

Until hubby, exasperated, sent the email exclaiming he was indeed starved.

Could he have just fixed himself something to eat? Sure he could’ve. But what he wanted was her company and the opportunity to share those moments… Continue

Get gorgeous, get younger, and get that soft skin looking radiant...

What a promise, huh?? To accomplish the above, there's always a trick, a secret, a specific step to be first taken:

"The best time to apply skin care products is when you are fresh out of a warm shower or bath. Not only is your skin clean, but it is also thoroughly moist and will better absorb anything you apply to it."

Haven’t you read that on instructions to just about any cream, lotion, and skin softener? If you’re like me, I’m going to follow that instruction in order… Continue

Hey, that's my bag! Where are you going with it?

If you’re like me, while traveling, your mind wonders with possibilities. Unable to see, I sometimes think about someone walking away with my bag or me grabbing someone else’s suitcase. Though those thoughts flash through at times, I still travel with no worries.

But, on this last trip, that very thing happened. The plane landed, and armed with patience and chatting our time away, my friend and I sat in our seats waiting for other passengers to disembark. Suddenly, my friend calls… Continue

Ouch! Just can't fit through that door.

Have you ever been in Tulsa’s airport? Great place, but they have the narrowest doorways! This past weekend my dear friend and I visited that area to work on an exciting ministry. And fitting with her caring nature, she made sure she guided me through all doorways, hallways, and elevators - being careful to avoid obstacles in my path. But when entering elevators with our bags and suitcases on wheels, and with me holding on her arm, the squeeze was tricky, sometimes painful, and often… Continue

Give me that recipe!

Did you ever taste something so delicious that after you licked the last bite off the spoon, or gulped the last wonderful sip, the first thing out of your mouth is: "I have to have that recipe!"

Ladies in my Sunday school class volleyed comments about the yummy food and the scrumptious coffee punch they served the day before at a women’s tea. The lady who prepared it proudly gave the recipe while the rest of the group jotted each detail.

"Sixty spoons of coffee!" chimed… Continue

Worse than cancer or any disease...

Worse than cancer or any disease…

…is the fear of public speaking. Have you ever heard that? Hard to believe. But I can sort of agree. When I was in school, I’d rather die than get up in front of the class. Tiny demons of torment jabbed at me through each minute of speech class in my freshman year of high school.

Then something happened - at the age of thirty-two I lost my sight. And when I settled in the arms of the Lord, confidence rose, security flourished, fear… Continue

Hothead? Hotrod? Hot-tempered?

Sometimes our life sizzles with anger when facing unexpected junk. Someone slices our heart with cutting words or vicious actions, or a wild driver zips into our lane causing us to slam on the brakes. Or a well-crafted plan crumbles melting our hopes and expectations.

And, as a result, the heat of our emotions scorches our day to a crisp.

If you know what I mean, check out Dr. Charles Stanley’s word of encouragement.

…Shake Them in Their Boots!

When Temptation Looms, Part 7

“We have discovered that God has provided us with a powerful arsenal for our protection: The Belt of Truth, the Helmet of Salvation, the Shield of Faith, and the Boots of Readiness that come from the gospel of peace. In addition, He has provided us with two dynamic weapons through which… Continue

I've just been slapped around...

Big time! Let me tell you how. I just got a call from my daughter-in-law. She and my son are miserably sick (probably the yucky bug that’s on the prowl).

"Do you think we can come over so you can watch the baby?"

When my daughter asked that question, my heart just about jumped through my throat with delight. (That’s a symptom of a being first time grandmother). Of course I agreed.

And once I hung up the phone, my mind went to fast mode: re-arranging my plans for the… Continue
