ONLINE NETWORKING DIVAS MEET IN PERSON AT SOUTHERN FESTIVAL OF BOOKS

Authors Yvonne Perry and Carolyn Howard-Johnson meet for the first time at the Southern Festival of Books in Nashville.

NASHVILLE, TN — It was a match made in Cyber heaven for two female business entrepreneurs when they connected via the Internet this spring. Soon after they met online, authors Carolyn Howard-Johnson and Yvonne Perry began assisting one another with business endeavors. On Saturday, Oct. 13, the two women met for the… Continue

The History Of Red Beans And Rice

Greetings Family,

Just beating on this Digital Drum again...smile

This comes from a good friend I met on MySpace. Chef Richard K. Pannell (http://www.myspace.com/marquisdecuisine) is an accomplished culinary expert. He is also a community activist, author, and web entrepreneur.

First let me talk about what he's doing to promote, mentor, and encourage other minorities to pursue a career in cooking. He is the founder of the…

Remember Who You Are

To other women that have been abused:

REMEMBERING WHO YOU ARE

Before I formed you in the womb I knew and approved of you and before you were born I separated and set you apart…….. Jeremiah 1:5

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Have you found in your life that you are so consumed with another person that you loose your prospective in your own life? That you… Continue

Enjoy The Grape

I read a parable recently that bothered me when I read it the first time. It is a story that was reportedly told by Buddha:

A traveller, fleeing a tiger that was chasing him, ran till he came to the edge

of a cliff. There he caught hold of a thick vine, and swung himself over

the edge.

Above him the…

What Makes It Worthwhile When Waiting Is Hard

I don't know about you, but I spend a lot of my life waiting: I got married later on in life, God called me to the ministry later on in life, I live with chronic illness and disability that I am waiting for God to attend to in His perfect timing and plan for my life, I wait to become less computer-challenged so that I can catch up with all you guys who can do all sorts of stuff I salivate over, and I wait for God's leading to do and be what He wants me to do and be when He wants me to do and…

My hands are tied by Morgan Mandel

I'm totally frustrated by the Ning friend request rules. When we could invite as many people as we wanted to be friends, I did. The result was when Ning changed the rules, I was stuck with over 2000 plus friend requests that had gone unanswered. We're only allowed 100 friend requests at a time, so now I've got a backlog of requests that are almost impossible to get rid of. If anyone's tried to remove friend requests, it takes forever and I just don't that that kind of time.

Anyone who…

Self Help Books - Who Do They Help?

Survival is an inherent human trait. If we are willing to accept this premise as truth, then what can be the reasoning for humans to seemingly be so intent on destroying themselves? The validity of this observation is made apparent each time a cigarette smoker lights…

Where the Spirit of the Lord Is, There Is Freedom!

What do you think of when you hear the word freedom? Obviously everyone pictures it completely different, right? You may imagine doing anything you would love at any time without any hindrance of finances,

time or ties. You would not notice any angry, envious or judgmental glances;

nor would you care! You'd just be free as an eagle and loving every single

moment!

It's comforting to…

Blushing with shame; it's confession time!

All right, all right, I admit it. When I’d hear grandparent’s shamelessly swank, brag endlessly and boast about their grandbabies, I questioned their sanity--they surely must be exaggerating, right?…

Increase Your Profits by Waiting for the Right Client

One of the biggest mistakes that I see service business owners make is taking on as a client anyone who has a 98.6 degree temperature who can pay them money. This is especially prevalent with new service business owners, as they are willing to do almost anything in order to land that first couple of clients.

Invariably, what they quickly discover is that their practice is full of a bunch of clients with whom they hate working. Does this sound like…

Jen Nipps inspires a new blog

I occasionally check Jen Nipps's blog "Confessions of a Fat Chick" to see what she's got for her readers. Ever since Jen started this blog, I had an idea of my own that I've wanted to work on, but hesitated because I didn't want anyone to think I was ripping off her idea. Well, ideas are a dime a dozen, so I decided to move forward.

"Ramblings of a Skinny Chick" is now online at…

Las Vegas and the Mob

Over the next several weeks I'll be posting excerpts from my books The Battle for Las Vegas - The Law vs. the Mob, and CULLOTTA - The Life of a Chicago Criminal, Las Vegas Mobster, and Government Witness.

So, if you're a Las Vegas buff, enjoy organized crime stuff, or are a fan of the movie Casino, you might want to stop by on occasion to see if there is anything of interest to you.
